Nakeenya has exhibited that she GLOWS in her personal and professional life in many ways. To begin, she is a wife and mother of two beautiful children. These are her number one purpose, and she believes that helping the church and world begins within her own home.
Nakeenya has always given back to the community through her church involvement and as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She volunteers throughout the community, teaches children’s church and bible school, and has been a guest speaker for several events.
Nakeenya has also made service her profession. She has been an educator and program developer in Austin ISD, Round Rock ISD, and for the City of Austin. She has also been an Undergraduate Coordinator for Department of African and African Diaspora Studies at the Univ. of Texas. In 2015, Nakeenya was a 1 of only 55 graduates of the Leadership Austin Emerge program. Currently, Nakeenya has a private practice, Professional Peacemaker, where she provides professional mediation services. She is also a part of the Univ. of Texas Restorative Justice Institute, as a trainer who travels the state training educators on alternative forms of discipline in order to lower discipline referrals, suspensions, expulsions, and decrease the number of students of color in the school to prison pipeline.
